    The Sun Festival Alexander City is a community development and tourism initiative designed to enhance the Alexander City and Lake Martin areas. A highlight of the Sun festival event is its “Medallion Hunt,” sponsored by Wind Creek. It’s exciting to see people out hunting, especially on days when clues are challenging, and there are hordes of people throughout Alexander City searching for hours. Clues for the medallion are posted on the Sun Festival, Alexander City Chamber of Commerce, and Alexander City Outlook Facebook pages. When the riddle is solved, the last clue will lead you to the official Sun Festival medallion. Wind Creek’s medallion hunt is a free event that everyone gets a chance to win!

They will also host a parade and Special Needs Rodeo during the week leading up to the main event.  Friday and Saturday night's main events will include Mutton Busting, Barrel Racing, Steer Wrestling, and Bull Riding. The Boots for Glory Veteran’s Rodeo benefits the American Legion Post 81 in the construction of the Choctaw County Veteran's Memorial Park.

    Details The JCMG Professional Rodeo benefitting the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation features eight nightly events including Bareback Bronc Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Calf Roping, Steer Wrestling, Break Away Roping, Barrel Racing, Team Roping, and Bull Riding. The Rodeo kicks off each night at 8:00 pm with FREE children’s activities beginning nightly at 6:00 pm. The foundation was named in honor and memory of Jennifer Claire Moore, a 16-year-old high school student who lost her life to suicide in 1997. Jennifer’s family wanted to enable young people to have access to assistance, understanding, and positive reinforcement when they needed it. In the hope that something good could develop from the tragic circumstances of her passing, her family founded the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation in 1998.

Pre-pandemic ASF provided education programs to more than one million students; annually, School Fest, a student-matinee program, presents high-quality theatrical experiences to nearly 35,000 students. Proceeds from donations and sponsorships maintain the production of future performances. ASF’s goal is to make provisions necessary in hopes of hosting events and shows this fall.

    The 12th Annual Prodisee Pantry Turkey Trot is a 5K Race, 1-mile Fun Run/Walk & Family Friendly Festival that has become a tradition for many area families and businesses. Every entry to the race purchases a turkey for a family in need for Thanksgiving. All proceeds fund Prodisee Pantry’s coordinated effort with various nonprofits and churches to provide a “Norman Rockwell” type holiday feast for Baldwin County families who are hungry. The pantry strives to ease the hunger pains of Baldwin County residents in need. They have assisted over 151,050 Baldwin County families facing hardship stemming from job loss, medical expenses, natural disasters, and other crises.
