Promotion Detail Pages

  1. In the Content Editor, navigate to the Promotions page under one of the property sites. For example: /sitecore/content/Wind Creek/Wind Creek/Home/Atmore/Promotions

The Atmore Promotions section in the site tree

  1. If you need to create a new year or month folder, right click on the parent item one level up and insert a new Page for the year/month.

  2. The easiest way to create a new promo page is to copy an existing one. Find one you want to copy, right click, and select Duplicate. Then give the new item a unique name. Keep in mind the item name will be used as the last segment of the URL path. If you want to create a new page from scratch, you can also right click on the Promotions page itself and insert a new Promotion Detail Page.

  3. The following fields are available to edit on each promo page:

    1. Title: The page title that is displayed in several places including the main page heading (the <h1> tag) and the title in the browser tab/window (the <title> tag).

    2. Content: The main content area

    3. Featured Image: Displayed as the hero image at the top of the page

    4. Short Description: A brief, one-line description describing the promo

    5. Dates and Times: A brief, one-line description of the dates and times

    6. Promotion Types: Check the box next to each promo type that applies to this promo. These are displayed as a list of names and icons under the hero image.

    7. Promotion Perks: Check the box next to each perk that applies to this promo. These are displayed as a list of names and icons under the hero image. They are also displayed with their description and icon in a grey box at the bottom of the page (above the complete rules section).

    8. Promotion Perks Description: The default description for all the selected perks if you don’t provide a unique description (see the next field). This is displayed in a grey box along with the perk name and icon.

    9. Promotion Perks Descriptions: This field is a list of perks with their corresponding description text. This allows you to define a unique description for each perk you selected. This text is displayed in a grey box along with the perk name and icon, and this will override the default description provided in the previous field. HTML is allowed in this field. The perk that you select in the drop down on the left should match one of the perk checkboxes you selected in the Promotion Perks field. If you don’t define a description for a specific perk in this field and the previous field is blank, no description will be displayed for that perk (only the name and icon). Both the perk name and description are required, or Sitecore will discard that row next time you save the page. To remove a description, set the perk name to the first (blank) option in the drop down and clear out the description box on the right.

    10. Complete Rules: The full list of rules. This is displayed in a collapsible section.

How the fields are displayed on the promo page

  1. Promotion Types are defined under /sitecore/content/Wind Creek/Wind Creek/Data/Promotion Types. This folder is where you can create, edit, or delete Promotion Types that are available for editors to select for each promo page. Each Promotion Type has two fields: Promotion Type Name and Promotion Type Icon Name, which references the name of an icon in the website stylesheet.

  2. Promotion Perks are defined under /sitecore/content/Wind Creek/Wind Creek/Data/Promotion Perks. This folder is where you can create, edit, or delete Promotion Perks that are available for editors to select for each promo page. Each Promotion Perk has two fields: Promotion Perk Name and Promotion Perk Icon, which references an image stored in the media library. All of the existing icons are stored under /sitecore/media library/Images/Promo Perks.

  3. Once the page is ready and published, you can copy the URL and paste it into the Details URL field in the calendar administration system.
